About Lawrence County History and Preservation Society
It all started with a Facebook post. An online discussion on the condition of the historic courthouse led to a meeting of like-minded people who wished to fill a void in the county. The need to preserve our historic structures, landmarks and written documents urges us to take an active part in our county.

Past Events
The members of our close-knit community often get together at fun events organized by Lawrence County History and Preservation Society. Keep browsing to learn more about some of our past happenings, and get in touch to find out how you can join us the next time we meet.
Clean up days
Our efforts at Lock-A, also known as the Lawrence County Park, have been very successful! Our goal is to bring this park back to life for all Lawrence County residents to enjoy!

Annual Christmas Dinner
2020 was not the year for a large membership Christmas party, so we only had a small breakfast. However, our 2019 Christmas party was one to remember!

The Hot Spot Dedication
In October of 2020, we dedicated The Hot Spot as a Alabama Historic Register building. The LCHPS helped pay for the historic marker. This was a great occasion for Marvin and Elayne Jackson as well as the LCHPS.

The Trickem Dedication
In November 2020, we also were privileged to receive a grant from the Pomeroy Foundation to honor the community of Trickem now known as Hatton.
